Today we met darling little Easton. He was very good for us, but he just might get the award for the most poopies during a session. But that's okay, we'll do whatever it takes to help our littlest clients get comfortable engough to create the perfect image!
Today we met a sweet little four-week old boy named Carter. He loved to stretch, but when it came time to get to work for the camera, he seemed to know just what to do. Carter gave us the cutest poses, and was relaxed at the right time and then sleepy at the right time. I hope he slept some more for Mom in the car on the way home. What a pleasure it was to meet Lily yesterday. She lives in Louisiana and came to town to visit family. I photographed her cousin a few months ago, and her aunt's wedding last fall. We spent nearly two and a half hours with her, most of the time just watching her eat! Can you believe she's only a little more than three weeks old? Check out her double chin and wide-open eyes. After we stripped her naked, I asked her mom and dad to shed some clothes, too. I think it makes a dramatic, intimate portrait. And it is very appropriate because it reflects how the skin-on-skin bonding with baby takes place at this tender and oh-so-fleeting stage. There is nothing like a precious newborn. We encourage parents to get in to our studio within the first six to ten days so we can capture these incredible moments to enjoy for a lifetime!

On Monday, we had such a great time photographing little Miracle that I didn't expect to have a second perfect baby this week. But today we certainly did! Noah is just the sweetest boy EVER! He eats a little, sleeps a little, pees a little, and eats a little more. But when he sleeps, he really sleeps. So we got some wonderful images. His parents were super helpful. We got the call from Noah's mom just yesterday. Even though we are technically on spring break this week, when she told me he was just six days old I had to make room on my schedule to see him. And I'm so glad I did! If we had waited until next week, he wouldn't have been able to do these cute poses.
Yes, today I saw a Miracle! Her full name is Miracle Nevaeh (that's "heaven" spelled backwards), and she is a precious, six-pound package of sweetness. Her doting aunt called to schedule the session when little Miracle was just a day or two old. Aunt Sarah was just beside herself with joy, because Miracle was a huge blessing after her mom had previously endured seven miscarriages. We saw her on day six, and it was a privilege to hold her. We really get excited when our babies can get into the studio at just a few days old, because they are still sleepy and curled up so we can get that newborn look. After about 12 to 14 days, babies are starting to "unfurl" and you can't get that curled up image. Knowing how special little Miracle is, we designed a unique session for her, and had such fun!

Today we photographed our first baby of 2009! I'm so looking forward to having more babies in the studio this year. We've got some great ideas for newborn images that will make beautiful works of art for our clients. If you know anyone who will have a baby soon, ask her to give us a call. We'll give her a free session and an 8x10 for the privilege of photographing the new bundle of joy. The only catch, we REALLY need the baby to come to the studio at around 5 or 6 days old. At that stage they are still sleepy, curled up balls (for the most part) and it allows us to be more creative with our posing. However, today Micah was a perfectly sleepy angel at four weeks old...most unusual! Weighing in at nearly 10lbs. at birth, it was surprising that he could or would still curl up and sleep for us. But at the end of the session he finally woke up (that's why it was the end of the session), and LOOK OUT! He had plenty to say...and he said it LOUD! Here are a few faves from the session.
